Privacy notice
This notice explains how AND Healthcare Ltd uses personal information when you visit BlinkBetter Trade, apply for trade access, request professional samples or use an account.
Last updated: 11 August 2026
Who we are
AND Healthcare Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. BlinkBetter is a trademark owned by AND Healthcare Ltd, which supplies BlinkBetter products through BlinkBetter Trade.
You can contact us about privacy or data protection at trade@andhealthcare.co.uk.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- name, email address, phone number and other contact details;
- trade application information, including business, premises, VAT, delivery and sales-channel details;
- professional sample information, including GOC registration number, profession, sample-box request, delivery address and approval or dispatch history;
- account, sign-in, order, proforma, invoice, payment, support and communication records; and
- security and technical information such as session, sign-in, rate-limit and audit events.
Please do not include unnecessary medical or other sensitive information in an application, sample request or support message.
How we use information and our lawful bases
- to answer an enquiry, assess an application and take steps requested before opening an account;
- to create and administer trade and professional accounts, review sample eligibility, approve or decline requests and arrange delivery;
- to process orders, payments, invoices, support requests, returns and related communications;
- to protect accounts and services, prevent abuse and fraud, keep audit records and improve reliability; and
- to send product news, educational information or offers where you have actively opted in to marketing.
We rely on steps before or performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating a secure trade service, legal obligations such as accounting and record keeping, and consent where the law requires it, including optional marketing consent.
Professional and GOC information
If you apply as an optometrist, optometry student or another eligible professional, we use the details you provide to review your professional status and sample request. We may check registration details against relevant professional or public records. Approval is carried out by an administrator; we do not make solely automated approval decisions.
Marketing
Marketing is optional. We only treat the marketing checkbox on a professional or trade form as permission to send marketing when it has been actively selected. You can withdraw that permission at any time by using an unsubscribe link or contacting us. Account, approval, sample, order and service messages are operational communications and are not dependent on marketing consent.
Who we share information with
We share information only where needed to run the service, fulfil a request or comply with the law. This can include our authorised staff and service providers for hosting, database, email delivery, payment processing, fraud prevention, customer support, professional verification and courier or postal delivery. Providers act under appropriate contractual and security arrangements.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information to regulators, law-enforcement bodies or professional advisers where required or permitted by law.
International transfers and security
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we use an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism and safeguards. We use access controls, encryption or hashing where appropriate, audit records and other technical and organisational measures, but no online service can be guaranteed completely secure.
How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected, to administer an account or request, to resolve disputes, to meet legal and accounting obligations, or to protect the service. Retention varies by record type. If you withdraw marketing consent, we stop using your address for marketing and keep a limited suppression record so we can respect that choice.
Cookies and similar technologies
BlinkBetter Trade uses essential session and security cookies to keep accounts signed in and protect the service. We will explain any non-essential cookies or similar technologies and ask for consent before using them. You can control cookies through your browser; blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other requested features.
Your rights
Subject to legal exceptions, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your personal information. You may also object to certain processing, request data portability, or withdraw consent where we rely on consent. Contact us using the address above; we may need to verify your identity before responding.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when our services, suppliers or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page with its update date.
